Heads Up !

This roadkill was down a country road and apparently just got his head run over.

Backroad Head Bash

So little damage made me want to bring him home for display, but he was found on the way to a party and thought I would pass it up this time.

Kind of Fishy

This road kill was in the road and it had crispy fins, but I find it very difficult to believe that is was hit by a passing car.
I was walking around downtown one evening, with some friends, crossing the street, and almost stepped on it.
It was totally weird.
The theories we came up with were it fell out of a fishermens truck or a bird of prey dropped it en route to its nesting area.

If you have another possibility, please let me know.

Vulture Tree

Pass this tree every day.
Sometimes its full of vultures,
Sometimes not.
We had a good rain the night before so they were all drying their wings in the sun.

Vulture Tree Zoom

The bird on the far left watched me the entire time.
The closer I got the more he folded in his wings.
So I stopped for fear he would leave, and just admired his bright red head and black feathers.

Made my day.
Most underrated bird I know.
Love these guys!

Aaaawwww Tink.....

This post is not roadkill and was discovered on a woodland path.

Tinkerbell ?

I can not, for the life of me, look at this for what it is--the remains of a dragonfly.
What it looks like to me is--the wings of poor Tinkerbell.
All I could think of was, "I have fairies in the woods!"
Looks like there wasn't enough clapping in our forest.

Thanks for being here.

Pierre

Poor Pierre.
He obviously was having a rough day worrying about, and distracted by, the thought of all the babies, his wife Chloe was gonna carry this spring. So wandering off in thought he headed face first into a tire.
"Ainsi va l'amour" (translation:such is love)

Au revoir Pierre, aurevoir.
RIP

Armadillo Poem

This ravaged armadillo sent in from a loyal follower in Tennessee leaves no chance for identification except if ID'd by a forensics team.
Either hit by a big rig or repeatedly by passersby, he is little more than tail, shell and some claws.

We will pay our respects with a poem:

An armadillo crossed the road and made it to the line,
He hoped for grubs in grassy lawns and sandy fields sublime,
But wheels quite large and things quite fast,
they left him as debris.
But we will keep his memory here as long as blogs are free.
RIP
