Armadillo Poem

This ravaged armadillo sent in from a loyal follower in Tennessee leaves no chance for identification except if ID'd by a forensics team.
Either hit by a big rig or repeatedly by passersby, he is little more than tail, shell and some claws.

We will pay our respects with a poem:

An armadillo crossed the road and made it to the line,
He hoped for grubs in grassy lawns and sandy fields sublime,
But wheels quite large and things quite fast,
they left him as debris.
But we will keep his memory here as long as blogs are free.
RIP

Walter the Woodpecker

This is Walter the Woodpecker. Walt to his friends.
He was a tad too amorous the other day and following an unknown lady friend at breakneck speed,
missed a turn and crashed into the window.
He fell immediately to the ground with blood coming from his mouth. He was guarded by his lady friend as he lay motionless on the ground.
When we arrived, she took of into the woods.
Love gone cold.
Literally.
This was Walter.
RIP

Charlie the Squirrel

This is Charlie.
A young gray squirrel.
Roadkill extraordinaire.
Internal organs exposed and intact.
He was a bit of a thrill seeker I guess.
Waiting till the last minute to cross the street,
and his timing being a bit off,
he ran full speed into a tire and burst on impact.
Nothing mushed.
This was Charlie.
RIP

The Roadkill Chronicles begin....

Always wanted to publish a book called Roadkill Chronicles.
The Blog name was taken, so Vulture Vomit will have to do. I actually like it though.
The Blog name, not the road kill itself.
I pity roadkill.
They die without a story.
They die without a voice.
I will be that voice and tell their story.
They will not die in vain.

The first pic is the most recent but not the first.
If you have a pic, send it.
Tell the story and I will present it.

Ralph the Owl

This is Ralph. He had been at Martha's old oak tree to pass the time and get out of the rain. Morning was coming and they both were getting hungry. The rain had kept most owl snacks in their homes. Martha had seen french fries thrown out by the highway the night before and they both were sure it would attract dinner.(breakfast for you and me) Sure enough, right before sunrise, Francine, a field mouse, mother of 5 was scurrying across the highway. Ralph took flight as soon as her mouse nails clicked on the asphalt and both creatures were focused on food. In the owls attempt to catch the mouse unawares, he did not hear the quiet hybrid vehicle doing 65 in the darkness...

This was Ralph.
